About Xcelerate Academy
Xcelerate Academy is a growing Derby-based tuition academy supporting KS3 and GCSE students across Maths, English and Science.
We are looking for a confident, creative and reliable Social Media Videographer / Content Creator to capture engaging short-form videos for TikTok, Instagram Reels, Facebook Reels and YouTube Shorts.
A key part of this role is being a representative of Xcelerate Academy. You will help communicate our message to Derby parents and students in a professional, friendly and engaging way.
This is not a Social Media Manager or Video Editor position. A separate editor will handle the final editing.
The role
You will attend selected academy sessions and events in Derby to create content covering:
- Student progress and success stories
- Parent testimonials and social proof
- Our tutors and teaching approach
- The Xcelerate Academy student experience
- Local Derby community involvement
- Admissions and assessment campaigns
- Student confidence and academic improvement
Key responsibilities
- Appear on camera as a representative of Xcelerate Academy
- Present short videos aimed at Derby parents and students
- Deliver prepared scripts, hooks and calls to action confidently
- Explain the academy’s programmes, benefits and admissions process clearly
- Attend planned filming sessions in Derby
- Record tutors speaking on camera
- Capture classroom, venue and behind-the-scenes footage
- Help develop strong hooks and short-form video concepts
- Film content in the correct vertical format
- Direct tutors and team members during recordings
- Capture clear audio and well-framed footage
- Follow an agreed monthly content plan and shot list
- Organise and upload raw footage promptly
- Coordinate with our video editor and Assistant
- Attend occasional community events when agreed
- Represent the academy professionally when speaking with parents, students and community members
- Follow all safeguarding and filming-consent requirements
What we are looking for
- Confident, natural and engaging on camera
- Clear spoken English and strong communication skills
- Able to represent an academic brand professionally
- A strong understanding of TikTok, Reels and YouTube Shorts
- Confidence filming people and directing simple recordings
- A good eye for hooks, framing, lighting and storytelling
- Reliable, organised and comfortable working independently
- Comfortable working around tutors, parents and young people
- Able to take initiative while following a clear content strategy
- Based in or able to travel reliably to Derby
- Available for some Saturday or Sunday filming sessions
- Access to a good-quality smartphone or camera and basic audio equipment
- Previous presenting or short-form content experience is preferred
