Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and professional Phlebotomist to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for collecting blood samples from patients with care and precision, ensuring accurate lab results and patient comfort. This role is working across 3 practices in the local area, all within supportive environments, contributing to vital diagnostic processes. The position is suitable for individuals committed to delivering high-quality patient care.
Responsibilities
- Collect blood samples from patients using venipuncture techniques with accuracy and care
- Ensure proper identification and verification of patients before sample collection
- Prepare specimens for laboratory testing, ensuring correct labelling and handling
- Maintain cleanliness and sterilisation of equipment and work area in accordance with health and safety standards
- Provide clear instructions and reassurance to patients throughout the procedure
- Record patient information accurately using IT systems
- Follow all health and safety protocols, including infection control measures
- Assist in maintaining stock levels of supplies and equipment needed for sample collection

- Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with patients and team members
- The ability to explain procedures clearly and compassionately
- Good IT skills for recording data accurately within electronic health records systems
- Basic teaching ability to educate patients about procedures or post-care instructions
- Strong organisational skills to manage multiple samples efficiently while maintaining accuracy
- Attention to detail to ensure correct labelling, sample handling, and documentation
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and handle sensitive situations professionally

Qualifications:
Essential:
- Relevant qualification in Venepuncture
- GCSE Grade C or above in Maths and English (or equivalent grades will be accepted)
Desirable:
- Experience of working in Primary care and using EMIS web clinical system
