The John Roan School - United Learning:
Thank you for your interest in working at The John Roan School. We are a large mixed secondary school which joined the United Learning group of schools in September 2019 and, supported by the expertise and guidance that has brought us, are rapidly improving outcomes for students. Ofsted graded us as a ‘Good’ school in October 2023 and as we continue our school improvement programme, we are looking for people who share our values and passionately believe that all children can achieve, no matter what their starting point, background or needs.
We serve more than 64,000 pupils and support around 10,000 staff in our schools, and we offer a growing range of additional services, including teacher training, professional development programmes, and a full curriculum package for schools. Everything that we do is geared towards improving life outcomes for young people. ‘We also believe in offering our staff 'more pay, more time and more support’.
The Role:
A qualified School Counsellor will work closely with the Deputy SENDCO, SENDCO and Student Support Manager and the wider staff body to improve students’ wellbeing, emotional and mental health, and resilience. The role includes delivering high-impact support, counselling, guidance, and targeted interventions. They will implement timely and appropriate support, which is robustly monitored and regularly reviewed to ensure its impact and effectiveness.
We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff to share this commitment. References will automatically be requested for all shortlisted applicants prior to interview. The successful applicant will be required to be DBS and safeguarding checks prior to taking up post.
