Mental Care Therapies is expanding its private neurodevelopmental assessment service and is seeking an experienced Autism Diagnostic Assessor to undertake comprehensive adult autism diagnostic assessments.
Essential requirements
Applicants must:
- Hold current registration with an appropriate UK professional regulator, such as HCPC, NMC or GMC, appropriate to their professional discipline
- Hold a relevant professional clinical qualification
- Be appropriately qualified, trained and competent to independently undertake autism diagnostic assessments in England
- Have demonstrable experience undertaking adult autism diagnostic assessments
- Have formal training and demonstrated competency in ADOS-2
- Have formal training and demonstrated competency in ADI-R, or another recognised developmental-history methodology appropriate to autism diagnosis
- Have a thorough working knowledge of DSM-5/DSM-5-TR autism diagnostic criteria
- Be competent in differential diagnosis and identification of co-occurring conditions
- Be able to independently formulate a diagnostic opinion based on the totality of clinical evidence, rather than relying on a single assessment tool
- Produce comprehensive, clinically robust diagnostic reports
- Hold appropriate professional indemnity insurance
- Meet all relevant safeguarding, information-governance and professional requirements applicable to their role
Applicants must be able to demonstrate their professional registration, qualifications, relevant autism diagnostic training and experience before commencing clinical work.
Desirable experience
- ADOS-2 Module 3 and/or Module 4
- ADI-R
- Adult autism assessment
- Complex presentations and co-occurring ADHD
- Multidisciplinary diagnostic assessment
- Post-diagnostic feedback
- Experience working within private healthcare
What we offer
- £350 per completed diagnostic assessment
- 1 day per week initially
- Private practice based in Colne, Lancashire
- Self-employed/independent contractor arrangement
- 12-month initial contract
- Appropriate flexibility around face-to-face and remote elements where clinically appropriate
- Opportunity to increase clinical sessions as the service develops
- Practice infrastructure and patient referrals provided
- No requirement to establish or market your own private practice
We are particularly interested in clinicians who already work within NHS or other clinical services and are looking to undertake one day of specialist private practice alongside their existing role.
