Job Summary:
As Second Chef, you will support the Head Chef in overseeing the daily operations of the kitchen. This role is ideal for a mid to senior-level chef who is highly organised, creative, and confident in leading a team. You will help ensure that all food preparation, presentation, and service meet our high standards, while also bringing your flair and ideas to the table.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the Head Chef with the daily management of kitchen operations
- Supervise and support kitchen staff to maintain a smooth and efficient workflow
- Uphold high standards of food hygiene and kitchen safety
- Collaborate in the creation of new dishes and refinement of existing menu items
- Monitor stock levels and assist with ordering supplies as required
- Ensure all dishes are consistently prepared and presented to recipe specifications
- Train and mentor new and existing team members on cooking techniques and safety practices
- Maintain a clean, organised, and safe kitchen environment
Requirements:
- Proven experience in a similar Second Chef or Sous Chef role
- Strong knowledge of food hygiene standards and kitchen safety
- Excellent leadership and communication skills
- Creative flair with a passion for seafood
- Ability to remain calm under pressure in a busy kitchen environment
- Flexible and dependable with a strong team ethic
