The Assistant Procurement Manager is responsible for delivering end-to-end procurement activity across the IT category, including sourcing strategy, supplier negotiations, contract management, and commercial governance with support from colleagues.
The role will drive measurable commercial value, mitigate supplier and contractual risk, and ensure alignment with the firm’s technology and business strategy across international operations.
Objectives for this role will include:
- Support the delivery of measurable cost optimisation and value creation across the category (savings, cost avoidance, commercial improvements).
- Establish strong, trusted relationships with key stakeholders and strategic suppliers.
- Support delivery of the firm’s technology strategy through effective sourcing and supplier management.
- Support supplier performance through contractually negotiated structured governance and performance management.
- Embed DLA Piper values and risk standards within the supply chain.
Main duties and responsibilities
- Provide support across the IT Procurement Category (c. £70m annual spend) including software, services, hardware, networks and telecoms.
- Responsible for BAU Software Renewals.
- Builds knowledge of the supply market within the business across the International firm.
- Managing appropriate supplier governance.
- Contract review and negotiation.
- Producing qualitative and quantitative management information to support the value of procurement.
- Delivering bid activity including RFI/RFP/RFQ.
Success Criteria
- Supporting value delivery in line with agreed targets including savings for the category.
- Supplier performance that meets operational requirements of the Business Units.
- Excellent cross functional stakeholder relationships.
About you
- At least 3 years Procurement and commercial experience including coverage of software and licencing.
- Demonstratable contract negotiation and drafting experience.
- Excellent communication skills and influencing skills.
- Working towards MCIPS (or MCIPS achieved) is preferred.
- Previous experience working for a Law Firm or International organisation is preferred.
