Full Time Live In Houseman/Lodge Assistant required to support the Front of House Manager, to start early September 2026 up until February 2027. (on a fixed-Term Contact, with the view to go permanent).

This hands‑on, varied and rewarding role is ideal for someone who thrives in a high‑end hospitality environment and enjoys delivering exceptional service.
Due to the nature of the sporting season, flexibility is essential. The position operates on a six‑day working week during peak periods and regularly includes late evenings to support guest hospitality and lodge operations. No two days are the same, and the successful candidate will play a key part in ensuring guests enjoy a seamless, memorable stay.
The Position:
To support the House Manager, you will ensure the smooth day‑to‑day operation of this wonderful 10 bedroom luxury shoot lodge, ensuring the property, grounds and guest facilities are presented to the highest standard. The Lodge Houseman is responsible for the practical and operational aspects of the lodge, including lighting fires, luggage handling, guest transport, onsite security, general maintenance, and supporting the smooth running of lodge operations.
Working behind the scenes, the role requires a proactive, flexible and hands-on approach, assisting with housekeeping, maintenance, logistics and hospitality support to ensure guests enjoy a seamless and exceptional stay.
Key Responsibilities
Guest Services
- Assist with guest arrivals, departures and room allocations
- Respond promptly and professionally to guest requests
- Support the delivery of food and beverage service
- Maintain a warm, professional and polite manner at all times
Lodge Operations
- Assist the House Manager with daily lodge management
- Ensure guest areas, bedrooms and public spaces are kept to a high standard
- Support event preparation, lodge setup and seasonal requirements
- Liaise with housekeeping, kitchen and estate teams to ensure seamless service
Transport & Driving
- Transport guests to local venues, train stations and agreed destinations
- Ensure vehicles are clean and presentable inside and out
- Maintain a courteous, safe and professional approach when driving guests
Maintenance & Property Support
- Carry out minor maintenance tasks and practical repairs where appropriate
- Monitor lodge and grounds, reporting issues promptly
- Assist contractors and suppliers when on site
- Support routine health and safety checks
- Maintain excellent cleanliness and presentation throughout the property
The Person
Essential
- Professional, friendly and confident manner with guests
- Previous Houseman experience
- Strong customer service skills
- Full UK driving licence
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to be flexible, independent and proactive
- Professional appearance and hands‑on approach
Desirable
- Experience in luxury hospitality, country house or lodge operations
- Front‑of‑house hospitality experience
- Bar and wine service knowledge
- Basic maintenance or practical property management experience
- Knowledge of food and beverage service
Hours & Flexibility
- Highly flexible working hours required
- Six‑day working week during peak periods
- Evening, weekend and bank holiday work will be required
- Hours vary according to guest occupancy and operational needs
- Holiday accrued at 12.07% of hours worked

This is a live‑in role, with accommodation provided for the successful candidate for the duration of the contract.
