Overview
OCB Building Services Ltd is seeking a versatile, experienced multi-trade subcontractor to join our team on an ongoing basis. We cover kitchens, bathrooms, home renovations, extensions, painting and decorating, tiling, plastering, electrics, carpentry, plumbing and landscaping. In this role you'll take on a wide range of tasks across these trades, working independently to complete jobs to a high standard, on time, and with minimal supervision. This is a great opportunity for a genuine all-rounder who takes pride in their craftsmanship and knows how to deal with customers professionally, particularly when working in occupied homes.
Duties
- Carry out kitchen and bathroom installations, including first and second fix work
- Complete carpentry tasks such as fitting units, doors, skirting and general woodwork
- Undertake tiling, plastering, and painting and decorating to a high finish
- Install and repair plumbing components including pipes, fixtures and fittings
- Handle electrical tasks such as fixture installation and basic troubleshooting (where qualified)
- Carry out landscaping work as required
- Diagnose problems on site and find practical, safe solutions without waiting to be told
- Use hand and power tools effectively and safely across all trades undertaken
- Organise your own work sequence to keep jobs on schedule
- Communicate clearly and professionally with customers throughout, including in occupied properties
- Treat every customer's home with care and respect, protecting floors, furniture and belongings, and keeping mess to a minimum while working
- Be friendly, approachable and courteous with customers, putting them at ease while you work in their space
- Leave every job clean, tidy and fully completed before moving on
Experience
- Proven, genuine experience across several trades, not just one
- Confident working independently and using your own initiative
- Able to read and work from technical drawings or specifications where provided
- Strong troubleshooting skills and adaptability when issues come up mid-job
- Calm, patient manner, comfortable working in occupied homes and able to de-escalate difficult situations
- A warm, friendly and approachable personality, customers should feel comfortable having you in their home
- Reliable, punctual and well organised
- Understands that excellent customer service matters as much as workmanship
- Full UK driving licence (essential)
