As demand increases, we are looking for a Solar Project Engineer who can combine strong technical design, administrative control, and project coordination, while still being capable of supporting installations on site when required.
About the Role:
Shiney Electrical Ltd is growing, and we’re looking for a skilled Solar Electrician with strong experience in Solar PV systems to join our renewable energy team. If you’re confident in domestic and commercial PV installations (with a electrical contractor baseline) , committed to high‑quality workmanship, and passionate about clean energy, this role is for you.
Key Responsibilities:
- Solar PV installation, Install, commission, and maintain domestic and commercial solar PV systems.
- Battery storage systems, Install and maintain electrical energy storage systems.
- Fault diagnosis, Diagnose and resolve issues in PV and associated electrical systems.
- Compliance, Ensure all work meets current electrical regulations and health & safety standards.
- Client collaboration, Work closely with clients and internal teams to deliver exceptional service.
- Technical guidance, Provide expert advice on system design, performance, and energy efficiency.
Essential Qualifications and Experience:
- Proven experience installing domestic Solar PV systems.
- BPEC or City & Guilds qualifications in Solar PV and Electrical Energy Storage Systems.
- Full electrical qualification (e.g., NVQ Level 3 Electrician or equivalent).
- Strong understanding of electrical systems, wiring regulations, and renewable technologies. (i.e. BS7176 and 18th edition).
- Confident working with both A.C. and D.C. components of PV systems.
- Excellent organisation and customer communication skills, upto and including extensive notes and system administration.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Full Clean UK Driving Licence. (3 or less points)
Desirable Attributes:
- Strong problem‑solving ability.
- Commitment to sustainability and renewable energy.
- City & Guilds Test & Inspection (or equivalent).
- City & Guilds 2372 Solar Photovoltaic Systems (not essential).
- Working at heights training (not essential).
