We are looking for a suitably experienced, commercially minded individual, to take responsibility for the commercial and operational performance of Taunton School's Uniform Shop and Convenience Store.
You will ensure that the shops are profitable, well-stocked, appropriately staffed, and open at times that best meet the needs of the Taunton School community throughout the year, through visible and impactful leadership.

Purpose of the Job
To take responsibility for the commercial and operational performance of Taunton School's Uniform Shop and Convenience Store, ensuring they are profitable, well-stocked, appropriately staffed, and open at times that best meet the needs of the Taunton School community throughout the year, through visible and impactful leadership.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
· Provide leadership across all retail operations, ensuring a high performing team
· Develop a customer-focused retail offer that supports strategic objectives whilst delivering a high-quality experience for pupils, staff, parents, and visitors
· Implement clear service standards, maintain a positive brand image, and address customer feedback
· Provide operational support during peak trading periods, start and end of terms, admissions events, summer school activities and key School events
· Undertake strategic and administrative responsibilities, including planning, stock management, financial oversight, supplier management, reporting and staff leadership
· Ensure the shops and working practices comply with legal and health & safety regulations, coordinating with the Estates team, HR, and other teams as required
· Work regular shifts within the Griffins shop and the Uniform shop
· Support weekend and occasional evening trading requirements where business needs require.
Commercial Performance
· Apply retail experience to set and deliver annual targets, agreed with the Director of Commercial Enterprises.
· Develop and implement retail strategies that increase revenue, profitability and customer satisfaction across all retail outlets
· Analyse sales performance, customer trends and purchasing data to identify opportunities for growth and improved efficiency.
Retail Operations & Staff Management
· Oversee staffing across all retail outlets, including recruitment, induction, training, performance management and professional development.
· Ensure the shops are open at the most appropriate times throughout the year to maximise customer service and revenue, working closely with the Head of Operations and Director of Commercial Enterprises.
· Take an active role in the day-to-day operation of the retail outlets, regularly working scheduled shifts within both the Griffins Shop and Uniform Shop.
· Maintain high standards of customer service, presentation, merchandising and housekeeping across all retail locations.
· Ensure effective cash handling, security, opening and closing procedures, and compliance with School policies and procedures.
Stock and Supplier Management
· Negotiate and manage contracts with key suppliers to secure value, quality and reliability.
· Ensure accurate and effective stock management, including purchasing, stock control, stock rotation, seasonal ordering and stock valuations.
· Monitor product performance and identify opportunities to improve product ranges, margins and customer experience.
· Seek opportunities to work with high quality, local suppliers.
Collaboration and Business Management
· Liaise with Commercial, Marketing, Admissions and Finance teams to maximise the financial performance and efficiency of the retail operation.
· Work collaboratively with colleagues across the School to support admissions events, open mornings, summer programmes, parent events and other commercial activities.
· Develop retail initiatives, promotions and merchandising opportunities that enhance customer engagement and generate additional revenue.
General

· Undertake all mandatory training, as required
