Assistant Psychologist (Band 5)

The Clinical Neuropsychology service is seeking a talented and enthusiastic colleague for the position of Assistant Psychologist. The post will provide clinical and data handling support to Clinical Psychologists working in Neurorehabilitation services across Lothian.
There will be a requirement to work within the Inpatient Neurorehabilitation service based at East Lothian Community Hospital (Ward 5) and to work within community services in West Lothian and at other sites as part of an agreed weekly work pattern.
The service contributes to interdisciplinary assessment, rehabilitation and recommendations to support people and their families dealing with complex needs relating to brain injury, stroke, progressive and other neurological conditions.
The inpatient neuropsychology rehabilitation staff team will comprise 1.2w.t.e qualified Clinical Psychologists and 0.5 w.t.e Assistant Psychologist hours. The outpatient and community service comprises 3.2 w.t.e, qualified staff and 0.5 w.t.e Assistant Psychologist hours.
Clinical supervision and line management support will be from our very experienced Band 8A Clinical Psychologists in Neuropsychology, with additional support from the Professional Lead or Senior Principal Clinical Neuropsychologist.
You will support the Neuropsychology service to deliver education, training and consultancy across Lothian and will be encouraged to be involved in supporting research and service improvement projects.
The Neuropsychology service has close links with the University of Edinburgh D.Clin.Psychol. course, providing teaching and specialist training placements. There will be opportunities to work alongside Trainee Clinical Psychologists and those in other clinical training roles.
Clinical Neuropsychology services in Lothian are managed with the Psychology Directorate in NHS Lothian therefore providing links with colleagues in other specialist areas.
