Key Responsibilities
The main responsibilities of the Maintenance Engineer: -
1) To perform both planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on machinery and equipment to minimise downtime.
2) Respond to breakdown and faults, diagnosing issues quickly and implementing effective repairs.
3) Carry out electrical and mechanical maintenance (e.g. motors, conveyors, PLCs, hydraulics, pneumatics)
4) Maintain accurate maintenance records, including work completed, parts used and recommendations.
5) Support continuous improvement initiatives, identifying opportunities to enhance equipment performance and reliability.
6) Ensure compliance with health and safety standards, risk assessments and safe working practices.
7) Collaborate with production teams to minimise disruption and optimise equipment availability.
8) Assist with installation, commissioning and upgrades of new machinery or systems.
9) Manage spare parts and tools, ensuring availability and proper storage.
10) To carry out any other duties as instructed by the company, which may be necessary in order to ensure the efficient operation of the company.
11) Work within a team, treating colleagues in a manner which promotes and maintains goodwill.
12) Maintain the Health & Safety of self, other workers and visitors by conforming to statutory and general Health & Safety requirements.
13) Ensure whilst carrying out duties all personal protective equipment is worn as required.
14) Contribute to good housekeeping routines, ensuring designated work areas are clean and tidy and kept free from hazards.
15) You will undertake other tasks for which they are considered appropriately capable, as may be directed from time to time.
16) Will be responsible for the safe custody and maintenance of any equipment allocated to them in the course of their duties.
17) To ensure familiarity with all Company Emergency & Evacuation Procedures.
18) Undertake any appropriate training as may be considered necessary by management.
Qualification & Experience
Ø NVQ Level 3, HNC, or experience in Electrical or multi-skilled engineering.
Ø Experience in a manufacturing, industrial, or facilities environment (FMCG, automotive, food, pharma, etc.)
Ø Knowledge of PLCs, automation, or robotics is advantageous.
Ø 18th Edition is desirable.
Skills and Competencies
Ø Strong fault finding and problem-solving abilities.
Ø Good understanding of electrical and mechanical engineering principles.
Ø Ability to read technical drawing, schematics and manuals.
Ø Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Ø Ability to work under pressure and prioritise tasks effectively.
Working Hours
36.7 hours per week
Monday to Friday
06:00 - 14:00 / 14:00 - 22:00 (rotating pattern - 2 week rotation)
Pay
£35,000 - £42,000 per annum.
