We have an excellent opportunity within our Facilities Management team for a Multi-Site Caretaker who will play a key role in supporting the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of our buildings across the district. From our main depots but also covering buildings from town Halls to public conveniences and community facilities, you’ll help ensure our estate is well-maintained, secure, and ready to serve residents, staff, and visitors.
Based primarily at Hardley Depot, you’ll travel between multiple locations, responding to operational needs and providing essential site support wherever it’s needed most.
You’ll thrive in this role if you are:

Practical, adaptable, and confident completing basic maintenance tasks
- Someone who enjoys working across multiple locations and can plan a varied workload
- Comfortable liaising with contractors, staff, and service teams
- A good communicator who takes pride in keeping buildings safe and operational
- Able to use phones, tablets, and digital systems to log tasks and report issues.
What you’ll be doing:

Providing routine and ad-hoc caretaking support across a range of sites including offices, depots, Town Halls, and public conveniences.
- Acting as first point of contact at unstaffed locations and overseeing contractor
access.
- Undertaking basic repairs and maintenance tasks such as replacing bulbs, toilet seats,or carrying out minor checks
- Supporting fire safety responsibilities, including weekly alarm tests and assisting with
fire drills.
- Carrying out site checks, including meter readings and equipment inspections.
- Responding to operational issues and reporting hazards, faults, or required maintenance.
- Optionally participating in an out-of-hours rota (with standby allowance) to triage issues and escalate where needed.
- Helping ensure buildings are secure, tidy, well-maintained and compliant with health and safety requirements.
