About Us
Part of the Changing Lives Charity, Andrew House is a dedicated residential recovery home supporting adult men, who have experienced life-affecting trauma, on their journey towards healing, restoration and hope for the future. Rooted in Christian values of compassion, dignity, and justice, Andrew House’s work spans counselling, advocacy, and community support. We provide a safe, supportive environment where residents can focus on personal growth and are empowered to reintegrate into the community.
The Role
As a Volunteer Support Worker, you will be a vital part of our team, helping residents navigate daily life and maintain their recovery in a positive, respectful, structured environment. The support worker will offer holistic support to residents on their journey towards healing from addiction and mental health challenges, building supportive relationships which encourage independent living and enable them to sustain long-term recovery. We particularly encourage applications from those with lived experience. This role is not of a medical nature and does not involve personal care.
Key Responsibilities:
· Provide support to residents, building trusting relationships using a trauma-informed approach.
· Facilitate both house activities and group work to promote personal growth and life skills.
· Being risk aware, undertake safeguarding actions to protect adults at risk as appropriate, sharing information internally and externally as appropriate.

Person Specification
We are looking for an experienced committed support worker with a heart for justice and healing, who will thrive in a challenging environment bringing compassion, and warmth to their work and be committed to the values of Christian service.
Essential
· A compassionate, non-judgmental attitude
· Strong communication and teamwork skills
· Ability to remain calm and supportive in challenging situations.
· Be a committed Christian and willing to model your faith with residents.
Desirable
· Experience in addiction recovery, mental health, or social care
· Knowledge of managing challenging behaviour and conflict resolution techniques
· Experience of working in trauma-informed environment
