SB Physiotherapy – Horley, Surrey
Part-time: 2.5–3 days per week
Salary: £40,000–£50,000 per annum FTE, pro rata, depending on experience
A chance to lead and shape a growing service
We are looking for an experienced Physiotherapist with Pilates and leadership experience to take the lead in the next stage of development of our physiotherapy-led Pilates and group exercise service at SB Physiotherapy.
We have already established a growing programme of physiotherapy-led Pilates and group exercise at The Stables in Horley. We are now looking for the right person to lead its development, expand what we offer and build and develop the team delivering it.
This is a role combining hands-on clinical and group work with genuine responsibility for developing and leading the service.
You will have protected time away from clinical and class delivery to develop the service, introduce new ideas, improve our existing offering and help determine what the service looks like in the future.
For the right Physiotherapist, this is an opportunity to have a significant influence over an important and growing part of SB Physiotherapy.
The role
Working approximately 2.5–3 days per week, you will combine delivery of our existing Pilates and group exercise services with dedicated leadership, administration and service development time.
You will be responsible for:
- Leading and developing our physiotherapy-led Pilates and group exercise service
- Delivering physiotherapy-led Pilates and group exercise sessions
- Assessing clients and ensuring they are directed towards the most appropriate classes and services
- Developing new classes, programmes and clinical pathways
- Working closely with our wider Physiotherapy team to integrate Pilates and group exercise into clients' rehabilitation and ongoing management
- Maintaining high clinical standards and appropriate clinical governance across the service
- Leading, mentoring and developing the team delivering the service
- Supporting the recruitment and onboarding of additional Physiotherapists and instructors as the service grows
- Helping to grow participation and awareness of the service within our existing client base and the wider local community
We want the successful candidate to have the time and freedom to think about how the service can improve and grow. Protected administrative, leadership and development time will therefore form an important part of the role.
What could the service become?
Although Pilates is an important part of what we currently offer, our ambition is broader than simply growing the number of Pilates classes we run.
We want to continue developing a high-quality, physiotherapy-led exercise service that bridges the gap between physiotherapy, rehabilitation and long-term exercise.
This could include further development of our Pilates programme, strength and conditioning, rehabilitation groups, balance and falls prevention, condition or population-specific exercise programmes and other services identified as the service develops.
We have our own ideas about where the service could go, but we also want the person leading it to bring their own experience, ideas and enthusiasm.
Who we're looking for
We are looking for an experienced Physiotherapist who combines strong clinical skills with practical Pilates experience and previous experience of leadership, mentoring and team development.
As you will be responsible for leading and developing an existing service and team, this is not an entry-level or newly qualified position.
Essential criteria
Applicants must:
- Be a Physiotherapist registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)
- Be a member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP)
- Hold a recognised Pilates or Clinical Pilates qualification
- Have practical experience delivering Pilates
- Have a minimum of two years' clinical Physiotherapy experience in the UK
- Have experience of leadership, mentoring and developing others
- Have strong clinical reasoning skills and be confident working autonomously
- Be confident delivering group exercise and exercise-based rehabilitation
- Have excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills
- Hold a full UK driving licence and have access to a vehicle, as travel between our two Horley sites will form part of the role
Desirable criteria
It would also be advantageous to have:
- Experience with APPI Clinical Pilates or a similar physiotherapy-focused Pilates approach
- Experience developing or growing a clinical or exercise service
- Experience managing or supervising a team
- Experience designing and implementing new group exercise programmes
- Additional qualifications or experience in areas such as strength and conditioning, rehabilitation, falls prevention or exercise for specific clinical populations
- Experience working within private practice
Beyond qualifications and experience, we are looking for someone who is proactive, enjoys developing services and is comfortable taking responsibility.
We want someone who will bring ideas, challenge us where appropriate and have the enthusiasm and drive to turn those ideas into something practical.
Development and CPD
We want to invest in the person taking on this role as well as the service itself.
We also recognise that continuing to develop our Pilates and group exercise service may require additional qualifications and training. Where further training would directly support the development of the service, additional funding can be considered on a case-by-case basis.
We are keen to support the successful candidate in expanding their existing Pilates and group exercise knowledge and developing additional skills that will help shape the future of the service.
Why join SB Physiotherapy?
SB Physiotherapy is an independent, family-run physiotherapy practice based in Horley.
We have built our practice around providing high-quality, individualised physiotherapy and rehabilitation, with the aim of helping people move better, feel stronger and get back to doing the things that matter to them.
This role offers something different from a traditional part-time Physiotherapy position. It is an opportunity to continue working clinically while also having the time, responsibility and autonomy to develop and lead a service.
You will have:
- Genuine influence over the direction and development of the service
- Protected time for leadership, administration and service development
- The opportunity to introduce and develop new services
- The opportunity to lead, mentor and grow a team
- Support for further training and professional development
- The ability to combine clinical work with leadership without moving away from patient care
- The opportunity to play a significant role in the continued development of SB Physiotherapy
Hours and locations
This is a part-time role of approximately 2.5–3 days per week.
The exact working pattern will be agreed with the successful candidate. Some flexibility around working hours will be required as part of leading and delivering a group exercise service, particularly as the timetable develops.
Pilates, group exercise and associated clinical sessions will primarily be delivered from:
SB Physiotherapy – The Stables
Meath Green Lane
Horley, Surrey
Administrative, leadership and service development work will primarily be based at our main clinic:
SB Physiotherapy
Caledonian House
Reigate Road
Horley
Surrey
RH6 0AP
The role involves working across both locations and travelling between the sites during the working day. A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle are therefore required.
Salary
Salary is £40,000–£50,000 per annum FTE, pro rata, depending on experience and qualifications.
