Dorbiere is a growing, privately owned pub group with 42 characterful pubs across the Midlands, Northwest, Northeast, Lancashire.
Our estate is diverse and full of local identity, from traditional community locals and lively student venues to destination country inns and food-led pubs. Every pub has its own personality, customer base and trading opportunity.
The Opportunity
Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will take ownership of the end-to-end performance, standards and day-to-day operation of a group of Dorbiere pubs within a defined area.
You’ll be a visible, trusted leader across your area, working closely with managers and pub teams to run successful, welcoming and commercially strong pubs. You’ll coach, challenge and guide operators while ensuring each pub trades safely, compliantly and in line with Dorbiere standards.
Working with pub managers and central support teams, including HR, finance, marketing and property, you’ll resolve issues quickly, identify commercial opportunities and turn insight into practical action that improves pub performance.
You’ll be accountable for helping a group of pubs trade well, operate consistently and deliver the kind of customer experience that keeps people coming back.
Key responsibilities include:
· Leading, coaching and supporting pub managers across your area, building productive relationships that help each pub operate effectively.
· Driving pub performance by reviewing KPIs, sales targets, operating costs, stock performance, margins and other key measures.
· Working with managers to create practical action plans where performance, standards or profitability need to improve.
· Managing people-related matters with support from HR where appropriate, including recruitment, onboarding, training, performance, conduct, absence and employee relations.
· Driving sales opportunities through local marketing, promotions, events and community engagement that reflect each pub’s customer base.
· Visiting pubs regularly to review standards, customer experience, compliance, stock control, cash handling and operational routines.
· Resolving and escalating operational issues promptly, including health and safety concerns, property matters, stock issues, customer feedback and supplier challenges.
· Supporting the successful acquisition and integration of new pubs within your area, helping teams understand Dorbiere ways of working.
· Sharing and embedding best practice across the estate, helping build a positive culture focused on people, customers, standards and results.
About You
You’ll be an experienced multi-site pub, hospitality or licensed retail operator who is at your best out in the trade, building trust, spotting opportunities and improving performance.
Commercially sharp and people-focused, you’ll be confident balancing support with challenge, using practical judgement and clear communication to improve standards, strengthen profitability and help landlords and managers run successful, welcoming pubs.
You will bring:
· Multi-site experience within pubs, hospitality or licensed retail.
· A strong understanding of pub operations, including wet-led, food-led, accommodation and community pubs.
· Strong commercial awareness, with experience of monitoring sales, margins, costs and profitability.
· The ability to build trusted, productive relationships with landlords, managers and pub teams.
· Confidence in handling people matters, including performance, conduct, absence and employee relations, with guidance from HR where needed.
· A practical, calm approach to problem solving, with the confidence to act quickly when operational issues arise.
· Good communication skills and the confidence to challenge, coach and support in the right way.
· A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel regularly across your area.
Pay: From £40,000.00 per year
