Buttons & Bows Day Nursery is looking for an enthusiastic, experienced and reliable Senior After School Practitioner to join our team on a permanent basis.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced childcare professional who is looking to take on more responsibility and become a key member of our after school team.
About the role
You will work as part of our after school team, supporting children aged 2–11 years and helping to provide a fun, safe and engaging environment after the school day.
As a Senior, you will take a proactive role in the day-to-day running of the after school provision, support other members of staff and help ensure that children receive high-quality care and experiences.
The role will include:
- Supporting the day-to-day running of the after school provision.
- Helping to lead and motivate the team.
- Planning and providing fun, age-appropriate activities and experiences.
- Building positive relationships with children and families.
- Supporting children's individual needs and development.
- Ensuring safeguarding, health and safety and nursery policies are followed.
- Supporting with school collections and our walking bus/chaperone service where required.
- Helping to maintain high standards of organisation, cleanliness and presentation.
- Taking responsibility for the setting when required and supporting the wider management team.
About you
We are looking for someone who:
- Holds a Level 3 qualification in Childcare, Early Years.
- Has a minimum of 2 years' experience working in a childcare setting.
- Has a genuine passion for working with children.
- Is reliable, organised and able to work well as part of a team.
- Is confident communicating with children, parents and colleagues.
- Is able to use their own initiative and make decisions confidently.
- Is enthusiastic, approachable and positive.
- Has a good understanding of safeguarding and children's wellbeing.
A Level 3 Playwork qualification is desirable. If you do not currently hold a Level 3 Playwork qualification, you must be willing to complete the qualification as part of your continued professional development and role.
Previous senior, room leader or leadership experience would be an advantage but is not essential. We are particularly interested in candidates who can demonstrate natural leadership qualities, confidence and a willingness to take responsibility.
Desirable
- Previous experience in a senior, room leader or team leader role.
- Level 3 Playwork qualification.
- Experience working with school-age children.
- Full UK driving licence, as the role may involve supporting with school collections.
- Experience of leading a small team or taking responsibility for a childcare provision.
