Responsibilities
- Supervise daily garden centre operations, ensuring smooth workflow and high standards of service
- Lead, motivate, and manage a diverse team, including hiring, training, scheduling, and performance evaluations
- Oversee merchandising efforts to showcase products attractively, maintain stock levels, and implement promotional displays
- Provide expert advice to customers on plant selection, care tips, and gardening solutions to enhance their shopping experience
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe environment for staff and customers by enforcing health and safety protocols
- Manage administrative tasks such as inventory control, sales reporting, and ordering supplies to ensure operational efficiency
- Cultivate strong communication within the team and with customers through active listening, clear instructions, and friendly phone etiquette
Experience
- Proven management or supervisory experience in retail or garden centre environments
- Strong team management skills with the ability to lead by example and foster a collaborative atmosphere
- Excellent communication skills in multiple languages; bilingual abilities are highly valued for serving diverse customer bases
- Demonstrated proficiency in merchandising techniques and sales management strategies
- Effective organizational skills with keen attention to time management and administrative responsibilities
- Prior experience in retail management or horticulture is preferred but not mandatory; enthusiasm for gardening is a plus
- Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently while maintaining a positive attitude under pressure
