The Paediatric Haematology team is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and experienced nurse with experience within Haematology and BMT to join us in a 1-year fixed term Maternity cover Practice Development Nurse.
This is a great opportunity to work within a highly specialised area of nursing, supporting the ongoing development of staff and delivery of quality patient care. This opportunity is offered at 1.0 WTE and to work within a specialist area with experienced and talented nurses and consultants.
The Paediatric Bone Marrow Transplant unit has four dedicated transplant cubicles with HEPA (High-Efficiency Particulate Air) filtration allowing the unit to perform up to 34 allogenic transplants a year as well as carrying out Gene therapy. The postholder will also support our 9-bedded Paediatric Haematology Day Unit and a 2-bedded Apheresis Unit where they will work alongside a team of Clinical Nurse Specialist and the Paediatric Matrons to delivery education and development.
This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in supporting staff development and ensuring that clinical practice remains current, evidence based and is aligned with regulatory and professional standards.
In addition, you will be part of a group of Practice Development Nurses for West London Children’s Healthcare who will deliver on key priorities for our Newly Registered and Student Nurses.
To support the implementation of a West London Children’s Healthcare wide nursing education strategy that links to the workforce strategy and the divisional strategic plan.
To be an expert practitioner, demonstrating advanced communication and nursing skills, using expert knowledge and decision making skills in children’s nursing.
To provide excellent visible clinical leadership and develop support mechanisms for sharing good practice across children’s services.
Support the paediatric senior team when involved with capability or performance management to ensure that they are able to undertake their role in regular education and assessment of that staff member.
To work effectively as part of the neonatal and paediatric education team to promote joint training, where appropriate, in pursuit of clinical excellence within the division.
To be flexible in the approach to the clinical area and provide cover for any area specified within your clinical competence.
The post holder will be expected to work a minimum of 20% clinically to maintain competency. They will also be expected to work clinically alongside nursing staff supporting their learning needs as identified.
Work strategically and operationally with the divisional team in ensuring that clinical policies, procedures, guidelines and educational programmes meet the needs of the division.
