Position: Full-Time, Year-Round
Joint Compensation Package: £38,000 – £44,000 base salary (combined) + quarterly profit bonus scheme (OTE £45k–£52k+)
(Single Applicant Option: £28,000 – £32,000 base + bonus)
Winter Hours: 6-day operating schedule (Closed Mondays), trimmed daytime hours
Summer Hours: Full seasonal trade (April to October)
About Us
Located in the heart of scenic Lynmouth, our independent venue is known for authentic gelato freshly churned on-site using premium Italian-imported flavourings and fresh local dairy, alongside specialty espresso coffee and warm, memorable hospitality. Having successfully established the venue and proven the business model, the founders are stepping back from day-to-day operations to hand over operational control.
We are seeking an ambitious, self-motivated management team who want to treat this business as their own. We view this as an "unofficial partnership"—a chance to step into a turn-key business, lead from the front, and directly share in the financial upside.
The Opportunity
This role offers a rare combination in coastal hospitality: year-round financial stability, lifestyle flexibility, and genuine entrepreneurial upside.
During the off-peak winter months (November to March), you will run a streamlined 6-day operation (closed Mondays) focusing on specialty coffee, fresh pastries, and warm desserts. You will use this quieter period to master our production and stock systems, build strong local customer loyalty, test creative winter specials/events, and prepare the venue to hit the floor running for the busy summer season.
For a co-management team, this structure allows one person to manage front-of-house operations while the other oversees kitchen prep, marketing, supplier logistics, or guest experience—giving you joint autonomy and high seasonal capacity.
Key Responsibilities
Daily Operations & Venue Leadership
- Oversee all daily FOH/BOH operations, ensuring flawless presentation, service speed, specialty coffee delivery, and on-site gelato churning standards.
- Manage opening/closing procedures, daily cash reconciliations, stock control, and lone-working/safety routines during quiet winter trade.
- Maintain rigorous food safety standards, hygiene scores, and HACCP compliance.
Team Leadership & Peak Season Prep
- Recruit, train and schedule seasonal support staff for the high-volume summer period.
- Lead by example on the floor, building a high-energy, efficiency-driven team culture.
Business Development & Profitability
- Work with the owners to control gross margins, wastage and labour costs against target ratios.
- Help develop and market winter offerings (specialty hot drink menus, warm desserts, seasonal events like Halloween and Christmas pop-ups).
- Act as the face of the business within the Lynmouth community.

Compensation & Benefits
- Base Salary: £38,000 – £44,000 combined base salary (or £28,000 – £32,000 for a single General Manager), paid predictably year-round.
