Job Overview
We are a forward-thinking accountancy firm seeking a dedicated and motivated individual to join our team as an Accounts Assistant / Trainee Accountant. While the role is primarily based in our Barry office, occasional travel to our Cowbridge office will be required.
Duties
- Maintain accurate financial records using accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, or Sage.
- Maintain and manage company ledgers (sales and purchase)
- Prepare accounts up to Extended Trial Balance
- Complete VAT returns
- Process payroll for a range of clients
- Help maintain the filing system for financial documents, ensuring all records are organised and up-to-date.
- Collaborate with team members to improve processes and enhance efficiency within the department.
Candidate Requirements
- Proficiency in accounting software, particularly QuickBooks, Xero, or Sage is highly desirable.
- Previous experience in an accounts payable role or similar position is an advantage but not essential.
- Studying towards or qualified AAT (or equivalent)
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Highly organised with the ability to manage deadlines
- Demonstrates a strong work ethic and attention to detail
- Prior experience in an accountancy practice is desirable but not essential
- A basic understanding of accounting principles will be beneficial.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
- Full UK driving licence required.
We are also open to apprenticeship candidates who are keen to begin or further their career in accountancy, with full training and study support provided.

Monday to Friday, 9:00am – 5:00pm (full-time)

Barry (must be able to reliably commute or plan to relocate prior to starting) Occasional travel to our Cowbridge office.
