Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated driver to assist individuals in need of transportation and companionship. This role is essential in providing support to clients, ensuring their safety and comfort during travel, while also offering companionship and assistance with daily activities. The ideal candidate will have experience in patient care, particularly with seniors or individuals with dementia, and possess a genuine desire to help others.
Responsibilities
- Provide safe and reliable transportation for clients to appointments, social events, or other destinations.
- Offer companionship during journeys, engaging clients in conversation and providing emotional support.
- Assist clients with mobility challenges, ensuring they enter and exit vehicles safely and securely.
- Support clients with daily living activities as needed, including medication administration and personal care.
- Maintain a clean and organised environment within the transport vehicle.
- Communicate effectively with clients' families and healthcare professionals regarding any concerns or changes in the client's condition.
- Document travel details and any relevant observations about the client’s well-being.
Requirements
- Previous experience in care, particularly in areas such as dementia care, senior care, hospice care, or home care, is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of medication administration protocols is an advantage.
- A caring attitude with excellent interpersonal skills to build rapport with clients.
- Ability to handle challenging situations with patience and empathy.
- Valid driving license is desirable but not essential for this role; previous experience in similar role is a plus.
- Flexibility to work, current pick up starts at 8.30 am to 1030 am and drop off starts 3 pm to 5 pm, which varied hours as needed to accommodate client schedules.
- A background in childcare or nursing home settings may be beneficial.
