We are looking for someone to become the technical custodian of our products and construction systems. This is far more than a technical drawing role.It is an opportunity to influence products, manufacturing processes and technical standards while working alongside the whole team to help shape the future direction of the business.
Purpose of the Role
The Product & Technical Designer will lead the technical development of the Life Space Cabins product range whilst supporting the delivery of bespoke architectural commissions.The successful candidate will take ownership of technical detailing, product refinement, specification and manufacturing information, ensuring our products continue to evolve through continual learning and innovation.This role sits at the intersection of architecture, product development and manufacturing.Its purpose is to bridge thoughtful design with practical construction, continually improving quality, efficiency and buildability while supporting the bespoke projects that help drive future innovation.
Key Responsibilities
Product Development
- Own the technical specification of the Life Space Cabins product range.
- Continually refine products through design reviews, workshop feedback and site learning.
- Develop and maintain technical standards, construction details and product libraries.
- Research and evaluate new materials, products and construction systems.
- Drive continuous improvement across product quality, durability, sustainability and manufacturing efficiency.
- Develop repeatable construction systems suitable for precision manufacture and scalable production.
- Support the development of future products from concept through to production.
Technical Design
- Produce high-quality technical drawing packages for manufacture and construction.
- Prepare UK Building Regulations information and technical documentation.
- Produce workshop production information.
- Develop technical solutions to complex construction challenges.
- Maintain technical specifications and component schedules.
- Support compliance with UK Building Regulations and relevant British Standards.
Bespoke Architectural Projects
- Support the technical delivery of bespoke architectural commissions.
- Translate design concepts into practical, buildable technical solutions.
- Resolve technical challenges throughout the design process.
- Capture learning from bespoke projects and incorporate improvements into the wider product range.
Manufacturing & Workshop
Working closely with our workshop team, you will:
- Continually improve construction details through practical feedback.
- Refine manufacturing processes.
- Reduce waste and improve production efficiency.
- Support procurement through accurate specifications.
- Develop technical information suitable for CNC manufacturing where appropriate.
- Promote consistency and quality throughout production.
Collaboration

You'll help ensure technical excellence is embedded throughout every stage of the business.
Skills & Experience
Essential
- Architectural Technologist, Product Design, Industrial Design or similar qualification/experience.
- Excellent technical detailing skills.
- Experience producing construction or manufacturing drawing packages.
- Strong CAD capability (AutoCAD, SketchUp, SolidWorks, Vectorworks or similar).
- Good understanding of UK Building Regulations.
- Excellent knowledge of construction methods and materials.
- Strong organisational skills.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple live projects.
- Full UK driving licence.
Desirable
- Timber construction experience.
- Offsite manufacturing experience.
- Product development experience.
- Understanding of prefabricated construction.
- Experience producing technical specifications.
- Appreciation of CNC manufacturing and how digital design supports accurate, repeatable production.
- Knowledge of sustainable construction and modern methods of construction.
- Knowledge of UK Building Regulations and relevant British Standards.

Work Location: You will be based at our HQ in South Devon. We will consider remote working after a period of time but this is a collaborative role that can only benefit from being in-person.
A valid driver’s license is required, as our location is remote and you will be required to attend sites.
