About the role
The Surveyor will support the Head of Engineering by carrying out site surveys across heat network assets and producing clear, accurate reports within agreed service level agreements (SLAs). The role is key to ensuring high-quality technical assessments, supporting maintenance planning, project delivery, and operational performance.
Specific responsibilities include:
Site Surveys
- Conduct site surveys across residential and commercial heat network installations
- Assess plant rooms, distribution systems, HIUs, and metering setups
- Identify defects, risks, compliance issues, and optimisation opportunities
- Capture accurate survey data, photos, and asset information
Reporting & Documentation
- Produce clear, structured survey reports in line with company standards
- Deliver reports within agreed SLA timeframes
- Provide recommendations for remedial works, servicing, or upgrades
- Support asset registers and data quality improvements
Technical Support
- Assist the Head of Engineering with technical assessments and feasibility reviews
- Support maintenance planning with accurate condition-based insights
- Contribute to troubleshooting and root cause analysis where required
Compliance & Safety
- Ensure surveys are conducted in accordance with health & safety requirements
- Identify compliance gaps in relation to heat network regulations and standards
Stakeholder Interaction
- Liaise with internal teams including Engineering, Planning, and O&M Contracts.
- Communicate findings clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders

Location and working hours:
- Part-time position (60 hours per month).
- 12 month fixed term contract
- Combination of site-based work and remote report writing with travel as require
Required skills and attributes:
- Proven experience in a surveying, engineering, or maintenance role (ideally heat networks or building services)
- Strong understanding of heat network systems
- Ability to produce high-quality technical reports with attention to detail
- Strong organisational skills with ability to meet SLA deadlines
- Competent in Microsoft Office
