Job Summary
We are seeking a friendly and efficient Barista to join our vibrant bakery team. The ideal candidate will deliver exceptional customer service, prepare high-quality coffee and food items, and maintain a clean and welcoming environment. This role offers an opportunity to develop skills in food service, POS systems, and retail operations within a dynamic café/bakery setting. Prior experience in coffee or food industry is preferred but not required; training will be provided to the right candidate.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and serve a wide range of hot and cold beverages, including coffee, tea, and specialty drinks.
- Maintain a clean, keep the coffee section organised and stocked up, and the maintain the best presentation of the food and drink displays, and seating area at all times.
- Follow food safety and hygiene standards during food preparation and service.
- Interact with customers to take orders, offer recommendations, and deliver excellent service.
- Process cash and card payments accurately using basic numeracy skills.
- Support food preparation duties when required, such as making sandwiches, grill the toasties or reheat the soup.
- Manage time efficiently to provide prompt service during peak hours.
- Work collaboratively with team members to foster a positive and welcoming workplace.
Qualifications
- Previous barista experience or background in food service is preferred but not mandatory; training will be provided for motivated candidates
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse guests
- Good time management skills to handle busy periods efficiently
- Basic math skills for cash handling, retail math, and transaction accuracy
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
- Flexibility to work various shifts including weekends or holidays
Pay: From £12.21 per hour
Expected hours: 1.0 – 35.0 per week
