Overview
We are seeking a professional HGV Class 1 Driver to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for safely operating large goods vehicles, primarily flatbed lorries, to deliver goods efficiently and on time. Duties
- Safely operate HGV Class 1 vehicles, including flatbed lorries, ensuring compliance with all traffic laws and company policies
- Conduct pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure roadworthiness and safety standards are maintained
- Load and secure goods onto the vehicle, ensuring proper handling and adherence to safety protocols
- Deliver goods to various locations in a timely manner, maintaining accurate delivery documentation
- Assist with the unloading of goods at delivery points when required
- Maintain accurate records of mileage, deliveries, and vehicle maintenance needs
- Follow all health and safety guidelines during driving and loading/unloading processes
- Communicate effectively with dispatch and clients regarding delivery schedules or any issues encountered during routes
Requirements
- Valid HGV Class 1 licence
- Proven experience in commercial driving, particularly with flatbed deliveries or similar operations
- Delivery driver experience is highly desirable
- Knowledge of road regulations and safety standards relevant to large goods vehicle operation
- Ability to handle physical tasks such as securing loads and lifting heavy items when necessary
- Strong organisational skills with attention to detail in documentation and route planning
- Flexibility to work various shifts as required, including early mornings or late evenings if needed
- Good communication skills and a professional attitude towards clients and colleagues
