WE’RE HIRING – SERVICING & BREAKDOWN ENGINEER
AddHeat is looking for an experienced Gas Servicing and Breakdown Engineer to join our growing team.
We are a well-established heating and cooling company covering Macclesfield, Cheshire and South Manchester.
The role will include:
- Domestic boiler servicing
- Fault finding and breakdown repairs
- Landlord gas safety inspections
- Heating system diagnostics
- Providing excellent customer service
- Completing job reports and certificates accurately
The candidate must have:
- Current Gas Safe qualifications
- Strong boiler fault-finding experience
- A full UK driving licence
- Good communication and customer-service skills
- The ability to manage their own daily workload
- A reliable, professional and positive attitude
OFTEC, unvented hot-water and air-conditioning experience would be an advantage but is not essential.
Duties
- Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and service requests, diagnosing issues accurately and efficiently.
- Perform repairs using a variety of tools including hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, plumbing supplies, and carpentry tools.
- Conduct preventative maintenance routines to reduce future breakdowns and extend machinery lifespan.
- Assist with assembly, installation, and commissioning of new equipment or system upgrades.
- Carry out heavy lifting tasks safely when handling large components or machinery parts.
- Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, repairs performed, and parts used for accountability and reporting purposes.
- Collaborate with team members to identify recurring issues and implement long-term solutions to improve operational reliability.
Experience
- Proven experience working as a maintenance or breakdown engineer in a fast-paced industrial or commercial environment.
- Strong mechanical knowledge with practical skills in welding, plumbing, carpentry, and the use of hand tools and power tools.
- Familiarity with basic math for measurements, calculations, and troubleshooting procedures.
- Experience with heavy lifting equipment and safe manual handling techniques.
- Valid commercial driving license preferred for transportation of equipment or parts between sites.
- Knowledge of assembly processes and the ability to interpret technical drawings or manuals is advantageous.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently or as part of a team under pressure while maintaining safety standards.
