About the Role
We are looking for an enthusiastic and organised Assistant Manager - Groups Travel to support the growth and success of our Groups Travel business. This exciting role combines leadership, sales, customer service and operational responsibilities, helping to develop escorted tours and private group travel whilst supporting the wider branch team.
Working alongside the Manager, you will play a key role in driving sales, developing new business opportunities, maintaining strong supplier relationships and ensuring exceptional customer experiences from enquiry through to travel.
Key Responsibilities
Support the Manager with the day-to-day operation of the Groups Travel department.
Assist in the planning, development and promotion of escorted tours and private group travel programmes.
Research destinations, itineraries, hotels, attractions and transport options to create exciting travel experiences.
Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, coach operators, hotels and tour providers.
Coordinate tour logistics, including itineraries, rooming lists, travel documentation and supplier payments.
Manage group travel enquiries and oversee bookings through to completion.
Support, mentor and motivate team members to achieve individual and departmental targets.
Identify opportunities to grow sales and develop new group travel business.
Create and support marketing initiatives, including brochures, social media content, promotional campaigns and customer events.
Attend travel showcases, presentations and customer events to promote Spear Travels tours and services.
Ensure bookings, payments and administration are processed accurately and efficiently.
Deliver outstanding customer service via telephone, email and face-to-face interactions.
Undertake Tour Manager duties and provide operational support on escorted tours when required.
Deputise for the Manager in their absence.
What We're Looking For
Previous travel industry experience, ideally within group travel, escorted tours or retail travel.
Proven ability to deliver exceptional customer service.
Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail.
A passion for travel and creating memorable customer experiences.
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
Ability to support, motivate and develop others.
Commercial awareness with a proactive approach to achieving sales targets.
Confident using Microsoft Office applications.
Experience in marketing, event planning or people management would be advantageous.
