Founded in 1887, Royal St George’s holds a unique place in golfing history as the first course outside Scotland to host The Open Championship. Having hosted 15 Opens—most recently in 2021—and the 2025 Amateur Championship, we look forward to hosting the AIG Women’s Open for the first time in 2027.
The Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an ambitious, experienced greenkeeper to join our team at one of the world’s premier links venues. In this role, you will help deliver an exceptional, Championship-standard experience for our members and guests.
This position is ideal for a career-minded individual keen to develop the skills needed to present and maintain a world-class links course. The successful candidate will receive training, mentorship, and hands-on involvement in every aspect of modern greenkeeping.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver high standards of greenkeeping skill across all course maintenance operations.
- Work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Demonstrate strong self-motivation, punctuality, and a solid work ethic.
- Communicate professionally with colleagues, members, and visitors.
- Comply with all health and safety regulations.
- Adopt a flexible approach to working hours, including weekend and bank holiday rotas.
Ideal Candidate Profile
- NVQ Level 2 in Greenkeeping (or equivalent qualifications/experience).
- Minimum of 3 years’ greenkeeping experience.
- Valid PA1, PA2, and PA6 spraying certificates.
- Knowledge of irrigation systems and construction.
- A basic understanding of the game of golf.
- An eye or detail and a positice "can-do" attitude
