Are you ready to take real ownership of contracts that change children's lives, and be rewarded properly for delivering results?
EM Tuition exists to close the inequality gap in education. We're a small, fast-paced team working directly with Local Authorities to deliver outstanding alternative provision to children who need it most. As we grow, we're looking for a Contracts Manager who wants more than a job title, someone who wants to run their patch like it's their own business, drive it hard, and share in the upside when it pays off.
What You'll Earn
- Base salary: £32,000, rising to £34,000 after a successful 3-month probation.
- Performance bonus tied to P&L and KPI delivery. Hit your contract profitability targets and your KPIs, and you'll earn a bonus calculated as a percentage of your contracts' P&L, on top of your base salary. The better your contracts perform, the more you take home. There's no cap built into effort here: strong delivery is rewarded properly.
- 32 days holiday (including 8 Bank Holidays), rising annually to a cap of 35 days.
- Company pension scheme (NEST).
- Free local gym membership after 3 months.
The Role
The Contracts Manager's primary focus is growing the value of their contracts, winning new business, expanding existing accounts, and driving P&L performance across their patch. You'll own the commercial relationship with your Local Authorities, schools, parents, and tutors, and you'll be judged on the numbers you deliver.
As your contracts grow, you'll be supported by a Contracts Executive, giving you the headroom to stay focused on strategy, stakeholder relationships, and winning new business. You'll report directly to the Contracts Director.
This is a role for someone commercially minded, who understands that great safeguarding and great service delivery aren't at odds with a healthy P&L, they're the foundation of one.
You'll be accountable for your numbers. Each contract you manage has clear KPI and P&L targets, and you'll know exactly where you stand against them every month, not just at year end. Miss target and you'll work with the Contracts Director on what needs to change. Hit it, and the bonus structure means you feel that directly.
What You'll Be Doing
Strategic & Commercial
- Own and manage the P&L for your assigned contracts, with a direct financial incentive to grow it.
- Prepare mini-bids (with Bid Writers or independently) to win new business.
- Build a strong understanding of your local market and its educational and community needs.
- Contribute directly to EM Tuition's growth and reputation as a trusted provider.
Stakeholder & Account Management
- Be the main point of contact for your allocated Local Authority, school, parent, and tutor accounts.
- Lead planning, review, medical, and safeguarding meetings as required.
- Build relationships that last, with people who trust you to deliver.
Performance & Delivery
- Hit and exceed monthly KPIs across all your contracts.
- Monitor tutor performance and learner outcomes, and act on what you see.
- Produce monthly performance reports for internal and external stakeholders.
- Write clear, professional reports to Local Authorities as required.
Tutor Management
- Source, assess, and allocate the right tutors for each contract.
- Support tutors with lesson planning, communication, and ongoing development.
- Run probationary and performance reviews, with structured feedback and improvement plans where needed.
Compliance & Administration
- Keep contract, tutor, and learner records accurate and current.
- Ensure all documentation meets company and Local Authority requirements.
- Support safeguarding, data protection, and regulatory compliance across your accounts.
What We're Looking For

- Proven experience in contract or account management, ideally in education or the public sector.
- Commercial acumen, you're comfortable owning a budget and being judged on results.
- Excellent communication, organisation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong report and bid-writing ability.
- Good IT skills and sharp attention to detail.
Desirable
- Experience working with Local Authorities or education-based services.
- Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and education regulations.
- Experience managing or supporting educators or tutors.
Safeguarding
EM Tuition is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people and vulnerable adults, and expects all staff to share this commitment. A DBS check is required.
