Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Bank Care Home Chef to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing nutritious, appealing meals tailored to the needs of our residents, ensuring high standards of food safety and quality. This role offers an opportunity to lead culinary operations within a caring environment, supporting the wellbeing and satisfaction of our residents through excellent food service. The position involves supervising kitchen staff, managing food production, and maintaining a welcoming dining experience for all residents.
Responsibilities
- Planning and preparing daily menus that meet nutritional guidelines and residents’ dietary requirements
- Supervising kitchen staff to ensure efficient food production and service delivery
- Overseeing food safety protocols and maintaining high standards of hygiene in the kitchen
- Managing food inventory, ordering supplies, and ensuring stock levels are maintained appropriately
- Leading the preparation of meals in accordance with dietary restrictions, including specialised diets for residents with specific health needs
- Ensuring all food is presented attractively and served promptly to residents
- Training and mentoring junior kitchen staff to develop their culinary skills and knowledge
- Collaborating with care staff to coordinate meal times and special dietary requirements
- Maintaining accurate records related to food safety, cleaning schedules, and stock management
Experience
- Supervising experience within a professional kitchen environment, ideally within a care or residential setting
- Proven experience in food production, cooking, and meal presentation
- Strong team management skills with the ability to lead and motivate staff effectively
- Extensive kitchen experience including food preparation, culinary techniques, and hospitality standards
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices in hygiene management
- Previous experience working in a restaurant or catering environment is desirable but not essential
- Experience serving meals in a care or residential home setting is advantageous but not mandatory
