To provide consultant supervision and leadership to the Hyperacute Stroke Unit (HASU) and Acute Stroke Units at the Leeds General Infirmary (LGI) and rehabilitation unit at chapel Allerton hospital (c6).
To work flexibly in a team assessing and treating all ages of patients with TIA and acute stroke.
To work cooperatively with the team of staff delivering hyperacute treatments, including thrombolysis and mechanical thrombectomy, to ensure effective joint working and highest quality care.
To support the IT infrastructure which underpins the stroke service and facilitate improved clinical governance and SSNAP data collection
To utilise all the resources available in delivering an effective and efficient service including the Community Stroke Team and other community services.
To contribute to education and training of staff from a variety of disciplines caring for stroke patients.
To be an active participant in all Clinical Governance, Service Improvement and Patient Safety work in stroke medicine.
To provide patients and carers with information and support.
To work collaboratively with the stroke multi-disciplinary team to improve patient flow and facilitate decision making for our stroke inpatients.
To ensure high quality and safe care of stroke patients resulting in excellent clinical outcomes.
To work co-operatively and effectively as part of the wider neurosciences and Speciality internal medicine teams, being held to account for clinical, service development and training outcomes.
To work closely with the colleagues in related clinical areas, in particular the emergency department, other medical and acute surgical specialties and with colleagues in primary care and those at the interface.
