The primary responsibility of this role is to accurately extract and clinically code relevant information from patients' medical records, hospital correspondence, and other healthcare documentation into the practice clinical system. The post-holder will work in accordance with practice policies and procedures for processing incoming clinical letters, reports, and discharge summaries.
Previous experience within a GP practice is desirable; however, a strong understanding of medical terminology and excellent attention to detail are essential.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Accurately review, interpret, and clinically code information within the practice's clinical system.
- Process incoming clinical correspondence, emails, and post in a timely and efficient manner.
- Extract relevant clinical information from hospital letters, reports, and other healthcare documentation, ensuring accurate entry into patients' electronic health records.
- Scan and attach patient-related documents to the appropriate healthcare records.
- Update and maintain patient records, ensuring data quality and accuracy at all times.
- Maintain a clean, organised, and efficient working environment.
- Provide administrative support to clinicians and the wider practice team as required.
- Adhere to practice policies, information governance requirements, and data protection regulations when handling patient information.
This role requires excellent organisational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to maintain confidentiality while working with sensitive patient information.
