Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and empathetic Care Home Housekeeper to join our team. Your primary role is to maintain a clean, safe, and hygienic environment for our residents, staff, and visitors. Because you will be working directly in our residents' living spaces, you must balance high-quality cleaning standards with a warm, respectful, and compassionate manner.Key Responsibilities
- Infection Prevention: Sanitise high-touch surfaces, handrails, light switches, and communal areas to comply with strict care home infection control policies.
- Deep Cleaning: Clean, dust, vacuum, and mop residents' bedrooms, bathrooms, dining rooms, and lounges daily.
- Linen Control: Change bed linens regularly and handle laundry according to strict biohazard and contamination guidelines.
- Safe Waste Disposal: Empty clinical and domestic waste bins, ensuring safe and correct disposal of all materials.
- Chemical Safety: Use, dilute, and store cleaning chemicals safely in line with Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH regulations).
- Resident Interaction: Interact with elderly or vulnerable residents with dignity, patience, and kindness while respecting their privacy and personal property.
- Hazard Reporting: Immediately report any maintenance issues, broken mobility aids, or safety hazards to the care home manager.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Experience cleaning in a care home, hospital, or hospitality setting is highly preferred.
- Knowledge of, or willingness to train in, COSHH and infection control protocols.
- A compassionate, patient, and friendly personality suitable for working around vulnerable individuals.
- Ability to pass a background check, such as an Enhanced DBS check in the UK.
- Physical stamina to bend, lift, and remain active throughout the shift.
Pay: £13.18 per hour
