LIVE-IN SUPPORT WORKER / KEY WORKER – COLCHESTER
Rota: Two weeks on, two weeks off
Lakem Care is seeking a compassionate, reliable and experienced Live-in Support Worker to provide person-centred support to adults with learning disabilities and communication needs.
The successful candidate will also act as a Key Worker, helping the individual achieve greater independence, maintain a healthy lifestyle and participate meaningfully in the community.
Key responsibilities:
- Provide respectful, person-centred daily support
- Support with personal care and medication
- Prepare meals and encourage healthy eating
- Assist with cooking, household tasks and daily routines
- Support community access, appointments, activities and social outings
- Encourage independence, choice and life-skills development
- Communicate patiently and adapt to the individual’s communication needs
- Maintain accurate care records and report concerns promptly
- Work collaboratively with family members, professionals and the wider care team
- Carry out Key Worker responsibilities, including reviewing goals and coordinating agreed actions
Essential requirements:
- Experience supporting people with learning disabilities
- Experience supporting individuals with communication impairments
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- A caring, patient and respectful approach
- Ability to work independently and use good judgement
- Commitment to safeguarding, dignity and confidentiality
- Right to work in the UK
- Willingness to complete an enhanced DBS check and required training
