Job Overview
We are looking for a reliable, organised and proactive Night Transport Coordinator to join our transport operations team.
The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting and coordinating our drivers throughout the night, dealing with any operational issues, breakdowns, delivery problems and customer queries. You will also communicate with Amazon and other customers to ensure deliveries are completed smoothly and any issues are resolved quickly.
This is a fast-paced role where good communication, problem-solving skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure are essential.
Duties
- Provide support to drivers throughout the night and act as their main point of contact.
- Deal with driver queries, delivery issues and operational problems.
- Coordinate and manage vehicle breakdowns, contacting breakdown providers and arranging assistance where required.
- Communicate with Amazon regarding delivery issues, delays, failed deliveries and other operational matters.
- Communicate with customers regarding deliveries and proactively chase outstanding deliveries where necessary.
- Monitor the progress of vehicles and deliveries throughout the night.
- Escalate serious operational issues to management when required.
- Keep accurate records of incidents, breakdowns, delays and driver issues.
- Check driver start times and ensure they are recorded accurately.
- Check load payments and confirm that payments have been received and correctly recorded.
- Complete general transport administration and update relevant systems.
- Follow up on outstanding information and ensure issues are dealt with before the end of the shift.
- Provide a clear handover to the day team regarding any outstanding issues.
- What We Are Looking For
- Previous experience in transport, logistics, fleet or delivery operations is desirable.
- Excellent communication and telephone skills.
- Strong organisational and administrative skills.
- Ability to work independently during night shifts.
- Confident dealing with drivers, customers and external partners.
- Good problem-solving skills and the ability to make decisions under pressure.
- Good attention to detail, particularly with times, payments and operational records.
- Computer literate and comfortable using email, spreadsheets and transport management systems.
- A proactive attitude and willingness to take ownership of problems.
- Reliable, punctual and flexible.
- Experience working with Amazon logistics/delivery operations would be an advantage.
Experience
- Previous experience in transport, logistics, fleet operations or delivery coordination is preferred.
- Comfortable coordinating drivers and supporting them throughout the night.
- Confident dealing with vehicle breakdowns, delivery delays and unexpected operational issues.
- Good communication skills when dealing with Amazon, customers, drivers and third-party providers.
- Strong administrative skills, including checking driver start times, load payments and delivery records.
- Able to work independently during night shifts and make sensible decisions when issues arise.
- Organised and able to manage multiple tasks and priorities at the same time.
- Good computer skills and confidence using email, spreadsheets and transport management systems.
- Previous work within a fast-paced transport or delivery environment would be an advantage.
