Job Overview
We are seeking a Community Outreach Officer to serve as a vital link between our organization and the communities of South Cambridgeshire. This role offers an opportunity to lead outreach initiatives, foster meaningful relationships, and promote community engagement. As a Community Outreach Officer, you will gather feedback about health and social care ensuring Healthwatch hears from diverse and hard to reach communities.
As part of this role, you will spend time out in the community speaking with residents, attending local events, visiting community groups and working with a wide range of people to understand what is working well and where improvements are needed.
The feedback you collect will help us identify key issues, influence decision-makers and ensure that local health and care services reflect the needs of the communities they support.
You will:
- Go out into communities across Cambridgeshire to listen to people’s experiences of health and social care services
- Build positive relationships with community groups, voluntary organisations and local partners
- Encourage people to share their feedback and ensure all voices are heard, including those who may face barriers accessing services
- Work alongside and support Healthwatch volunteers, encouraging and involving them in community engagement activities, events and outreach wherever appropriate
- Attend events, forums and outreach sessions across the county
- Record and share feedback accurately to help identify themes and areas for improvement
- Support Healthwatch campaigns, projects and engagement activities
You will need to be someone who:
· Is confident speaking with a wide range of people and able to build rapport quickly
· Has excellent communication and listening skills
· Enjoys working independently and managing your own schedule
· Is approachable, empathetic and genuinely interested in people’s experiences
· Can adapt your communication style to work with different communities and audiences
· Is organised and able to record information accurately
Travel requirements
This role involves regular travel across Cambridge City and Cambridgeshire to attend community events, meetings and engagement activities. You will need to be able to travel easily around the county by car, as many of the communities we work with are in rural areas where public transport options can be limited. Full mileage is paid from the successful candidate’s home address.
Pay: £28,571.00 per year
