Main Purpose of Role
Support the delivery of the new joint service’s strategic goals by ensuring sustainability is integrated across all operations, policies, and practices in both forces, supporting long-term environmental, social value and economic sustainability.
The Joint Sustainability Unit is a pioneering collaboration between Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire Police, bringing together expertise and resources to accelerate sustainability improvements, drive efficiencies and provide quantifiable financial savings for the organisations. The postholder will support the Head of Unit in delivering the Unit's objectives across both forces.
The Sustainability Officer will provide professional advice, coordination and project support to help both forces meet their sustainability objectives and deliver value for money. Working across a wide range of environmental and organisational priorities, the postholder will support the development and delivery of initiatives, performance reporting and stakeholder engagement activities that reduce environmental impact, deliver social value, improve efficiency and ensure compliance with relevant legislation and national requirements.
Key Skills & Experience Required
This is a career graded role with scope to move to a higher grade through career advancement and expertise development.
A good level of knowledge and experience in a broad range of sustainability functions and specific experience of applying this expertise in a translatable role.
Understanding of decarbonising fleets and knowledge around DNO engagement for charger installation planning.
A level of experience and capability in building relationships with internal stakeholders to deliver sustainability objectives.
Experience in a range of carbon/sustainability data benchmarking and reporting
Proven interpersonal, communication, and presentation abilities, with the skill to influence, gain support, and clearly convey complex information to stakeholders at all level
Exceptional report-writing and analytical skills, with a strong capacity to interpret and communicate complex information accurately.
Must have the ability to travel to locations within the two force’s region and nationally for business purposes.
