Cardiff and Vale College is seeking a proactive and reliable Technician in Construction to join our Construction team.
This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in supporting the delivery of high-quality teaching and learning within a busy and dynamic environment. Working closely with lecturers and assessors, you will help create an outstanding learning experience for students by ensuring workshops, equipment and resources are fully prepared, maintained and available for practical teaching activities.
You will be responsible for supporting the day-to-day operation of our construction facilities, helping to maintain a safe, organised and effective learning environment while contributing to the success of learners across the faculty.
You will support the delivery of practical construction sessions by preparing materials, tools, equipment and workshop spaces to meet curriculum requirements.
You will ensure construction workshops and associated resources are maintained to a high standard, carrying out routine checks and helping to ensure compliance with current Health and Safety requirements.
Working closely with teaching staff, you will help maintain an effective learning environment, supporting the smooth delivery of practical activities and contributing to a positive learner experience.
You will also assist with stock control, equipment maintenance and general workshop organisation, ensuring resources are available and fit for purpose.
You will have relevant industry experience within the construction sector and a good understanding of workshop practices, equipment and safe working procedures.
You will hold a Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in a relevant construction-related subject and have knowledge of current Health and Safety regulations.
You will be organised, proactive and capable of working independently, whilst also being an effective team player with strong communication skills.
A full clean driving licence is essential, and you will be willing to work flexibly across College sites, including occasional evenings and weekends when required.
