Listed in every major UK restaurant guide, The Terrace has become a local institution for great food and service since opening in 2020.
This is the first time in six years we have had a role available for an experienced Restaurant Manager. We think it's a great opportunity for an experienced Manager to work in a mature, well-structured business with a clear career path into GM and a culture that puts team member development and well-being at the heart the business.
Our Restaurant Manager works with the owners and GM to oversee all aspects of operations outside the kitchen including upholding the culture, ensuring profitability balanced with staff well-being and guest satisfaction, ordering, stock management, systems and their effectiveness, training and the management and resolution of all issues both on and off shift.
We are a mature business with structure that an experienced manager can easily drop into and take ownership of. You won't need to reinvent the wheel - we are profitable with high ratings for customer satisfaction and good staff retention based on systems we have refined and tested over six years.
Our team varies from 30 to 15 across the year and our opening hours from 4.5 days to 7. At least half this team will report to you with support from the GM as needed. Three of this team are experienced shift managers, most of the rest can own one of four sections within the restaurant.
In terms of progression we'd really like to support the right person in growing to GM level, taking responsibility for every element of the business in a hands-off capacity with both Head Chef and Restaurant Manager reporting to them. This isn't a must but for the right person we think it should be attractive!
We're really looking for committed, management-level Hospitality Professionals with the ability to train and develop team members.
We aren't a formal restaurant but we do operate a structured service so you'll need to be familiar with restaurant or hotel environments that ran this way.
You'll need to have shown enthusiasm for food and drinks offerings in previous work places and have an opinion on what works and what doesn't.
We'll expect you to give input into systems and create ideas for their improvement where you see them so we think this is something you'll have done before.
You'll be super-confident and relaxed with guests and team members and project a certain level of gravitas on service where without ever saying it, people know you have a natural level of seniority.
You'll be confident in resolving issues positively within a team and with guests, able to troubleshoot issues before they occur to prevent them, and you'll never support or encourage the development of back vs front of house culture.
You'll be comfortable easily writing detailed shift reports and using these to develop training plans or operational changes that prevent recurring issues or create efficiencies.
You'll be able to write rotas, administer holiday, assist with data for bookkeeping, Tronc and payroll.
Most importantly you'll be hard working and enthusiastic and comfortable setting the standard by which your team are measured.
We offer a basic salary from 35k-45k depending on experience, Tronc somewhere in the region of £10k, a 40-50hour week with control of your own rota. The role is based in Yarmouth Isle of Wight and requires someone local or who can reliably get to Yarmouth daily. We can support with relocation for the right person.
Pay: £45,000.00-£60,000.00 per year
Work Location: In person
