Job Summary
We are seeking a friendly and efficient Café Assistant to join our cafe/chip shop team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing excellent customer service, preparing and serving food and beverages, and maintaining a clean and welcoming environment. This role offers an opportunity to develop skills in food service within a vibrant café setting, ensuring customers enjoy a memorable experience.
Duties
- Take customer orders accurately and efficiently, ensuring prompt service
- Prepare and serve a variety of beverages, including coffee and tea, adhering to quality standards
- Assist with food preparation and frying up to a high standard
- Maintain cleanliness of the café area, including tables, counters, and equipment
- Ensure compliance with food safety standards at all times
- Serve customers in a courteous and professional manner
- Restock supplies as needed to ensure smooth operation during shifts
- Handle cash transactions accurately using the point-of-sale system
- Support team members during busy periods to ensure efficient service
Requirements
- Previous chip shop/cafe experience is advantageous but not essential; training will be provided
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices is preferred
- Experience in serving customers in a fast-paced environment is desirable
- Basic maths skills for handling cash and processing transactions confidently
- Strong time management skills to prioritise tasks effectively during busy periods
- Excellent communication skills and a friendly demeanour
- Ability to work well within a team and independently when required
- Flexibility to work various shifts including weekends if needed

Pay: £12.71-£13.00 per hour
