Job Description:
We have an exciting opportunity for a friendly, organised and ambitious Café Supervisor to join our team at The Living Rainforest.
The Trust for Sustainable Living is a registered charity based near Newbury, Berkshire. At our visitor centre, The Living Rainforest, visitors can experience the sights, sounds and smells of a lush tropical rainforest environment.
The Café Supervisor is a key member of our team. This is a vital role in supporting the long-term success and profitability of the café, which is a key part of our visitor experience.
Primary Responsibilities:
Staffing
- Supervise a friendly front of house team, including coordinating rotas
- Train and development existing and new team members
- Ensure employees are trained on the proper use of all café equipment and ensure a high level of health and hygiene are maintained at all times
- Monitor and report improvements where required
- Collaborate with the Front of House and Retail Manager regarding staffing and the smooth running of the visitor centre
Legislation
- Ensure Health and Hygiene standards are met and implemented in café areas, including COSHH, Natasha’s Law and Food and Allergens Safety.
- Ensure Health and Hygiene practices are up to date with new legislation
Café Management
- To oversee day-to-day operations of the café
- Assist with ad hoc events held at The Living Rainforest such as food preparation/presentation.
- To manage stock preparation and presentation; ensuring that the café is sufficiently stocked at all times
- To demonstrate excellent customer service and promote good practice within the Centre
Required skills and experience:
- Experience working in a café environment, preferably in a management/supervisor role
- Have a vast knowledge of key legislation surrounding food preparation and allergens.
- A Food Safety and Hygiene Level 3 qualification and allergens training
- Strong communication skills and ability to manage a team
About this role:
- This is a full-time role and involves working some weekends and Bank Holidays on a rota basis as a Duty Manager.
- The standard hours are 9.00am to 5.30pm with some flexibility required
- We can offer you a diverse role within a unique working environment, with the opportunity to get involved with different aspects of a visitor centre.
- You would also be required to complete a First Aid at Work training course.
