Job Overview
To support the purchasing and administration team with day-to-day supplier, stock and order management tasks, while developing practical skills in procurement, stock control, business administration and supplier communication.
The apprentice will help improve the accuracy of purchasing information, supplier records, part descriptions, prices, delivery terms and stock data in the company system.
Performance will be measured on the accuracy of purchasing and stock data, timely supplier follow-up, completion of agreed system updates, support with stock checks, quality of communication, reliability, and progress against apprenticeship training requirements.
Duties
- Purchasing administration;
- Supplier data clean-up;
- Stock control support;
- Maintaining and updating purchasing, supplier and stock records in the company system;
- Chasing deliveries;
- Price list updates;
- Basic purchasing analysis.
Experience
- Previous experience in an office, warehouse, stores or customer service environment.
- Basic Excel knowledge.
- Interest in engineering, electrical products, industrial parts or supply chain.
- Good attention to detail when working with codes, prices and descriptions.
- Organised and accurate;
- Comfortable working with numbers and product references;
- Confident using email and Microsoft Excel;
- Willing to learn business systems and purchasing processes;
- Ability to communicate clearly with suppliers and colleagues;
- Practical, curious and prepared to ask questions;
- Reliable and able to follow instructions;
- Interested in business, purchasing, stock control or supply chain.
GCSEs or equivalent, including English and Maths at grade 4/C or above.
A-levels, BTEC, T-level or equivalent qualifications would be an advantage but are not essential.
- Fluent in English
- Comfortable with Basic Microsoft 365 Systems (Outlook, Excel, Word)
Pay: £8.00-£12.71 per hour
Expected hours: No more than 40.0 per week
