About the Role
Date Digital Lounge Ltd. is looking for an experienced Commercial Director to join our team in Cardiff. This senior leadership role is responsible for developing the company’s commercial strategy, increasing revenue, strengthening client relationships, and identifying sustainable opportunities for business growth.
You will work closely with the executive team and department leaders to improve sales performance, develop profitable service offerings, and ensure that commercial decisions support the company’s long term objectives. The successful candidate will combine strategic leadership with practical experience in business development, contract negotiation, financial planning, and digital services.
Key Responsibilities
Commercial Strategy: Develop and implement a clear commercial strategy aligned with the company’s growth plans, market position, and financial objectives.
Revenue Growth: Identify new revenue opportunities across digital services, technology solutions, strategic partnerships, and existing client accounts.
Business Development: Lead the development of new business opportunities from initial prospecting and proposal preparation through negotiation and contract completion.
Sales Leadership: Manage and support sales and business development teams by establishing targets, reviewing performance, and improving sales processes.
Client Relationship Management: Build strong relationships with senior decision makers and ensure that key accounts receive a high standard of commercial support.
Contract Negotiation: Lead negotiations for major client agreements, supplier contracts, partnership arrangements, and commercial renewals.
Pricing Strategy: Develop competitive and profitable pricing models based on market conditions, service delivery costs, client requirements, and business objectives.
Financial Performance: Monitor revenue, profit margins, forecasts, budgets, and commercial performance against agreed targets.
Market Development: Analyse customer needs, competitor activity, and industry developments to identify new services and market opportunities.
Proposal Management: Oversee the preparation of commercial proposals, tenders, presentations, and client pitches.
Cross Functional Leadership: Work with operations, finance, marketing, technology, and service delivery teams to ensure that commercial commitments can be delivered successfully.
Commercial Risk Management: Identify financial, contractual, operational, and reputational risks associated with new and existing business opportunities.
Executive Reporting: Provide senior leadership with accurate revenue forecasts, pipeline reports, performance analysis, and recommendations.
Team Development: Recruit, mentor, and develop commercial professionals while promoting accountability and consistent performance.
What We Are Looking For
Experience: At least 8 years of experience in commercial management, business development, sales leadership, account management, or a related field.
Leadership Background: Previous experience leading a commercial function, managing revenue targets, and supervising sales or business development teams.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Finance, Economics, Management, or a related discipline.
Commercial Knowledge: Strong understanding of revenue growth, pricing, forecasting, contract management, profit margins, and business planning.
Digital Sector Experience: Experience working within digital services, technology, software, marketing, consulting, or another business to business service environment is desirable.
Negotiation Skills: Proven ability to lead complex negotiations and secure commercially beneficial agreements.
Financial Awareness: Comfortable reviewing budgets, forecasts, management reports, pricing structures, and profitability data.
Communication Skills: Able to present strategies, proposals, and commercial recommendations confidently to clients, executives, and internal teams.
Decision Making: Capable of assessing opportunities, balancing commercial risks, and making informed decisions under pressure.
Strategic Mindset: Able to convert long term business objectives into measurable commercial plans and practical actions.
Professional Approach: Demonstrates integrity, accountability, sound judgement, and a strong focus on delivering sustainable results.
Pay: £6,500.00-£7,300.00 per month
