We are seeking a pro-active and enthusiastic individual to lead the export packing team based at our warehouse in Redditch. Working closely with the Commercial Packing Manager to supervise the daily operational activities and manage the onsite productivity of the experienced export packing team based at the site in Redditch.
The role involves securely packing a range of antique/reproduction furniture, decorative accessories and goods ready for international shipping. As an Export Packer, you will play a key part in preparing client goods for shipping, including wrapping, crating and securing cargo to meet international standards and client requirements.
Most duties will be carried out working within the warehouse, including some administration responsibilities, you will need to be computer literate with a good standard of written English. A forklift reach truck licence is required for this role and experience of export packing would be preferable. Full training will be given across all aspects of the role.
Ideally, you will have experience within the removal industry or worked in a similar packing/export wrapping role.
What will you do?
· Motivate and lead the day-to-day operations of the export packing team, packing wrapping, crating and securing international shipments for export, whilst making the most efficient use of resources available.
· Maintain the warehouse and site security, whilst allowing for a practical and safe working environment
· Ensure the workplace’s health and safety requirements are met
· Maintain housekeeping of the warehouse and site in a clean, tidy and efficient manner to meet the company’s standards and industry guidelines.
· Ensure that all warehouse activities are closely supervised and any issues immediately addressed, reported or escalated.
· Ensure accurate and up to date records are maintained for the movement of all goods in/ out of the warehouse - receipt of goods in; storage records; retrieval and timely delivery of goods for collection/onward delivery; shipment loading & transferring and document recording.
· Record and report to the branch management any anomalies of goods in and out of the site.
· Preparing and managing daily operations and movement of goods, keeping accurate records on our in-house storage system
· Organise the on-site storage of containers and goods in accordance with company standards, making the best and most efficient use of space, taking into account client, company, and health & safety requirements.
· Manage stock control of packing materials to meet anticipated demand within the budgeted cash flow allowances ensuring the re-use/recycling of materials in line with company environmental policies
· Develop staff skills as required and promote constant motivation among staff to strive for an efficient and effective team
· In addition to your normal duties, you may be required to undertake other similar operational duties in line with the needs of the business and flexibility should be recognised as paramount for this role
The ideal candidate will have
· Experience of the removals industry or experience gained within warehouse/operations supervision/team leader role
· Leadership and line management skills
· Understanding of transport operations
· Team building skills alongside the ability to give clear direction and delegate confidently
· A good team member who can also work using own initiative
· Strong time management skills, with the ability to work to deadlines
· Good verbal and written communication skills are required as you will be liaising with customers, suppliers and other departments
· IT knowledge, to include accuracy and attention to detail
· Sound knowledge of health and safety legislation
· A flexible and can-do attitude with the ability to work flexible hours if occasionally required
