Job Summary
We are seeking a proactive and dependable Driver to serve as holiday cover, ensuring smooth transportation and delivery operations during peak periods. This role involves safely operating various vehicles to transport goods, materials, or passengers while maintaining excellent communication with team members and clients. Duties
- Safely operate company vehicles for the transportation of goods, equipment, or passengers in accordance with road safety regulations and company policies
- Deliver items promptly and efficiently to designated locations, ensuring accuracy and proper handling of all cargo
- Conduct routine vehicle inspections and basic maintenance checks to ensure optimal performance and safety standards are met
- Assist with heavy lifting and loading/unloading of items, adhering to proper manual handling procedures
- Communicate clearly with dispatchers, team members, and clients regarding delivery schedules, delays, or issues that arise during transit
- Maintain accurate records of deliveries, mileage logs, and vehicle maintenance activities
- Follow all traffic laws and safety protocols to ensure personal safety and that of others on the road
Experience
- Proven experience as a driver, preferably in delivery or commercial driving roles
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; appropriate license class for the vehicle fleet used
- Experience with heavy lifting and manual handling tasks required for loading or unloading cargo
- Strong communication skills for effective coordination with team members and clients
- Knowledge of vehicle maintenance routines and basic troubleshooting skills
- Ability to follow detailed instructions and adhere to schedules in a fast-paced environment
