Starting Salary £28,000 PA + Bonuses + Progression
We are looking for an experienced, highly organised and proactive Office Administrator & Account Manager to join our growing business, Trusty Stores.
This is an important office-based position working directly with the Managing Director (MD). You will take responsibility for managing customer accounts, customer service, administration, purchasing and delivery processes, while also supporting the MD with the day-to-day running and development of the business.
We are looking for someone who can take ownership of their responsibilities rather than simply follow instructions. The ability to use your own initiative, identify problems and find practical solutions is essential.
This is an excellent opportunity for the right person to develop with the business, with the potential to progress into a senior position and eventually manage a team.
Key responsibilities
- Managing customer accounts from initial enquiry through to successful order completion
- Building strong relationships with customers and providing a high level of customer service
- Responding to customer enquiries, messages and requests promptly and professionally
- Taking ownership of customer issues and finding effective solutions
- Processing and managing customer orders accurately
- Purchasing products from suppliers on behalf of the business
- Liaising with suppliers regarding availability, pricing, orders and delivery times
- Arranging and monitoring customer deliveries
- Tracking orders and proactively resolving any delays or issues
- Communicating with customers, suppliers and delivery companies
- Maintaining accurate customer, order and supplier records
- General office administration and data entry
- Assisting the MD with day-to-day business administration and operational tasks
- Monitoring outstanding tasks and ensuring they are followed through to completion
- Identifying opportunities to improve processes and make the business more efficient
- Taking responsibility for problems and resolving them without always needing to be told what to do
- Supporting the MD with projects and other business priorities as required
Essential experience and skills
Previous experience in office administration and account management is essential.
We are looking for someone who can demonstrate:
- Proven experience in an office administration and/or account management role
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- Strong organisational and time-management abilities
- Excellent attention to detail
- Experience managing customer accounts, orders and queries
- Experience dealing with suppliers and/or purchasing
- Confidence using computers, email and online systems
- The ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
- Strong problem-solving skills
- The ability to use initiative and independently find solutions to problems
- A proactive attitude and willingness to take ownership
- The confidence to communicate directly with senior management
- A professional, reliable and trustworthy approach
The ideal candidate
This role is suited to someone who is experienced, switched-on and commercially minded, who enjoys taking responsibility and getting things done.
You should be the type of person who, when faced with a problem, looks for a solution rather than simply passing it on. You will be trusted to manage your own workload, make sensible decisions and keep the MD informed of important issues.
As you become established within the role, there will be the opportunity to take on greater responsibility, progress into a senior position and ultimately manage a team.
Career progression
This is not simply a traditional administration role.
The successful candidate will work directly with the MD and will have the opportunity to gain a broader understanding of how the business operates. For the right person, there is a clear opportunity to progress into a senior management/team leadership position, taking responsibility for other members of staff as the business continues to grow.
We are looking for someone who wants to grow with the company, take on responsibility and build a long-term career.
What we offer
- A key role within a growing business
- Direct working relationship with the MD
- Opportunity to make a genuine impact on the business
- Increasing responsibility and career progression
- Potential to progress into a team management role
- A varied role where every day is different
- Support and training where required
