Workshop Controller | Mercedes-Benz of Guildford
An opportunity has arisen to join us as a Workshop Controller at Mercedes-Benz of Guildford. The main purpose of this role is to manage the process of optimising workshop resources to meet agreed departmental budgets and to control the flow of work through the workshop to maximise its utilisation and ensure that technicians are working efficiently.
You will be required to understand and communicate effectively with other members of the department. Ensuring efficient operation of the service department, to meet and exceed customer expectations and maximise workshop profitability.

Key Responsibilities
- Manage and optimise workshop resources, ensuring work is effectively allocated to maximise productivity, technician utilisation and departmental profitability.
- Monitor workshop performance, efficiencies and key performance indicators, while supporting the ongoing training and development of the technician team.
- Coordinate the workflow of repair orders from start to finish, allocating jobs appropriately, monitoring progress and ensuring work is completed within agreed timescales and manufacturer standards.
- Maintain high operational and workshop standards, ensuring all processes, procedures and documentation are completed accurately and in line with company requirements.
- Deliver exceptional customer service by resolving queries and concerns professionally, working collaboratively with colleagues across all departments to exceed customer expectations.
- Support the wider dealership operation by promoting interdepartmental cooperation and providing cover for other areas of the business when required.
What We're Looking For:
- Previous experience as a Workshop Controller, Senior Technician, Team Leader or similar automotive aftersales role
- Strong leadership and organisational skills
- Ability to prioritise workloads and manage multiple tasks effectively
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Commercial awareness and a focus on workshop performance
- Commitment to delivering outstanding customer service
- Full UK Driving Licence
Hours of work
Monday to Friday: 7:00am – 5:00pm (1 hour unpaid lunch break)
Total: 45 hours per week
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: Up to £45,500.00 per year
