Church Companion Volunteer – Seaford

About the role:
SeeAbility is looking for a friendly and reliable Church Companion Volunteer to support a person with autism and visual impairment to attend church on Sundays in the Seaford area.
You will help them to enjoy attending church, providing companionship and practical support to make the journey and visit as comfortable and enjoyable as possible.
What you will do:
- Accompany the person to and from church on Sundays.
- Provide sighted guiding support where appropriate.
- Help them navigate safely around the church and surrounding areas.
- Offer friendly conversation and companionship.
- Support them to feel comfortable and included during the service.
- Help them build confidence in attending church regularly.
- Enjoy a shared interest and become a familiar, trusted face.

Who we're looking for
You don't need previous experience of autism or visual impairment. We're looking for someone who is:
- Friendly, patient and approachable.
- Reliable and happy to volunteer on Sundays.
- Comfortable supporting someone with additional needs.
- A good listener and happy to chat.
- Respectful of the person's choices and independence.
- Willing to complete the required training.
Sighted guide training and support will be provided.
