We are opening a brand‑new 3‑bed EBD children’s home in Derby. The home is fully furnished, fully staffed, and fully equipped with all policies, procedures, and systems already in place. Our team has completed their training and is ready to deliver high‑quality, trauma‑informed care.
We are now seeking a Registered Manager to lead the home through Ofsted registration and guide the team into full operation. This is a rare opportunity to step into a ready‑to‑run service and focus on leadership, culture, compliance, and delivering exceptional outcomes for young people.
The Role
As Registered Manager, you will take ownership of the final stage of opening the home: Ofsted registration. With a trained staff team and established policies already in place, your role will centre on:
- Leading the home through registration
- Embedding trauma‑informed practice
- Providing strong, stable leadership
- Ensuring regulatory excellence
- Driving the home towards Good and Outstanding outcomes
Once registered, you will oversee the day‑to‑day running of the home, ensuring young people receive consistent, nurturing, and structured care.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the home through Ofsted registration and ensure all requirements are met
- Provide strong leadership to an already‑trained staff team
- Embed trauma‑informed, child‑centred practice throughout the home
- Ensure full compliance with Ofsted, Children’s Homes Regulations, and safeguarding frameworks
- Oversee care plans, risk assessments, behaviour support strategies, and incident management
- Maintain occupancy and manage budgets effectively
- Build positive relationships with local authorities, social workers, and external partners
- Prepare the home for its first Ofsted inspection and drive continuous improvement
- Promote a culture of reflective practice, professional curiosity, and accountability
Requirements
- Level 5 Diploma in Leadership & Management for Residential Childcare
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in a senior role within a children’s residential EBD setting
- Strong understanding of trauma‑informed practice and behaviour management
- Excellent knowledge of Ofsted frameworks and Children’s Homes Regulations
- Experience with Ofsted registration or inspections (desirable but not essential)
- Proven leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop staff
- Strong communication, decision‑making, and organisational abilities
- Commitment to safeguarding and delivering high‑quality outcomes for young people
- Right to work in the UK (no sponsorship available)
